Falcon Graphics is free browser-based broadcast graphics software for lower thirds, titles, news, sports, live data and on-air overlays. It combines a visual editor, timeline animation, operator data and direct export without requiring a desktop graphics package.
Open the editor, choose a template or start from scratch, and keep the project on your own computer. When the design is ready, export a self-contained HTML graphic for CasparCG or an OGraf package for compatible players.
What should free broadcast graphics software include?
A useful graphics tool needs more than text over a colored rectangle. Live production adds requirements that ordinary design software does not solve: transparent output, data updates, predictable playout commands and animation that can wait indefinitely for an operator.
- A viewport that matches the final video format.
- Editable layers for text, shapes, images and live sources.
- A keyframe timeline with controllable easing.
- IN, HOLD, UPDATE, NEXT and OUT behavior.
- Fields that a rundown or graphics controller can change.
- Export that the playout renderer can load without the editor.
- Fonts and assets that remain intact on another computer.
Falcon Graphics is built around those broadcast requirements while keeping the authoring workflow visual.
Runs directly in the browser
There is no editor installer to maintain. The application runs at graphics.wearefalcon.tv, while the working project is saved locally as a .fgproject file. You decide where that project and the finished graphic are stored.
Browser-based does not mean the finished graphic depends on the Falcon editor. The self-contained HTML export packages the runtime and embedded project assets into a single file for direct playout.
Start with more than 30 editable templates
The included library covers common live-production formats such as lower thirds, breaking news, score bugs, quotes, weather, finance, event speakers, social handles, sponsor bugs, clocks and fullscreen information.

Design with familiar visual layers
Add text, shapes and images for conventional layouts. Use iframe and Code frame layers when a graphic needs web content or custom behavior. Live Data layers fetch plain text, JSON or selected HTML values directly from an allowed URL.
Video layers can be included as part of the composition and tied to the graphic lifecycle. All layers can be arranged, colored, locked, hidden, duplicated and animated in the same workspace.
Animate with a broadcast timeline
Keyframes control visual properties at exact frames. Choose linear, smooth and other easing curves, add motion blur and retime keyframes by dragging them. Crop, blur, skew, size, rotation, opacity and position can be used to build entrances, updates and exits.
The timeline also shows the playout action ranges. This is important because a graphic is not a video clip with one fixed duration. It can animate in, wait for a command, update its data, move through multiple steps and animate out.

Make every visual value data-driven
Operator data often starts with a name or headline, but a reusable template may also need a team color, logo, font size, position or visibility flag. Falcon Graphics exposes OGraf Data binding across every supported visual value.

Export for CasparCG and OGraf players
Two export paths cover the most common workflows:
- HTML export: one self-contained file with play, next, update, stop and remove callbacks for direct CasparCG use.
- OGraf export: a standards-based package with its manifest, Web Component runtime, assets, actions and GDD JSON for compatible players.
If CasparCG is your target, follow the complete CasparCG HTML template guide. If you want to understand the portable format, begin with What Is OGraf?
A five-minute first project
- Open the browser editor and choose a lower-third template.
- Replace the sample name and title in the OGraf Data test values.
- Adjust the colors, font and on-screen position.
- Play the timeline and inspect the IN and OUT transitions.
- Preview a data update, then export HTML or OGraf.
That small project contains the same core building blocks as more advanced weather, sports or election graphics. You can add layers and data as the production grows.
Who is it for?
- CasparCG operators who need editable HTML templates.
- Small production teams that do not have a dedicated graphics developer.
- Broadcasters testing OGraf interoperability and data models.
- Streamers and event producers who need transparent browser graphics.
- Developers who want a visual starting point and the option to add custom code.
Frequently asked questions
Is Falcon Graphics free?
Yes. Falcon Graphics is free to use. A free Falcon account removes the current one-layer limit that applies to guest projects.
Do I need to install broadcast graphics software?
No. The editor runs in a modern browser. Projects are saved locally as Falcon Graphics project files, and finished graphics are exported for playout.
Can browser graphics have transparency?
Yes. Web graphics can use transparent backgrounds, which allows the renderer to composite lower thirds, bugs and other overlays over programme video.
Can I use the exported graphics without internet access?
The self-contained export includes the project assets needed by the graphic. A layer that deliberately fetches Live Data or an external iframe still needs access to its configured source.
