30+ Free CasparCG and OGraf Templates for Live Production

Falcon Graphics includes more than 30 free CasparCG and OGraf templates for live production. Choose a lower third, score bug, news layout, weather card or fullscreen design, then edit every layer, value and animation in the browser.

The templates are designed to shorten the path from an idea to a controllable on-air graphic. They are not rendered videos or locked presets: each one opens as a complete Falcon Graphics project.

What is included in the template library?

The library covers the graphics most productions build repeatedly:

  • Lower thirds: names, roles, centered straps, two-line IDs and interview graphics.
  • News: breaking-news straps, headlines, quote cards and information panels.
  • Sports: score bugs, team identifiers, statistics and match information.
  • Weather: location, temperature, condition, wind and icon-based cards.
  • Events: speakers, schedules, countdowns and session titles.
  • Branding: sponsor bugs, social handles, corner logos and campaign callouts.
  • Data graphics: percentages, finance values, rankings and Live Data cards.
  • Fullscreen: titles, quotes, lists and programme information.

Why start from a template?

A template already contains a useful composition, layer order, typographic hierarchy and example animation. That removes the blank-canvas problem while still teaching the structure of a real broadcast graphic.

For a fast first project, change the preview values and colors, play the animation and export. For a custom package, keep the timing but replace every visual element with your own brand system.

Every template remains editable

  • Move, resize, crop, rotate, blur, skew and recolor layers.
  • Replace fonts with embedded Google Fonts or uploaded font files.
  • Add or remove layers and rename them for the production team.
  • Retiming keyframes and change easing curves or motion blur.
  • Add multi-step states that advance on play or next.
  • Create, edit and test OGraf Data fields.
  • Bind incoming data to any supported visual value.
  • Change the composition to 16:9, 9:16, square or a custom resolution.

Use templates with CasparCG

Open a template, adapt the design and choose Export HTML. The result is a single self-contained file with the graphics runtime, assets and global callbacks used by CasparCG.

The exported template can respond to load, play, next, update, stop and remove. Place it in the template directory configured on the CasparCG Server and test it from the real controller.

Follow the complete process in How to Create CasparCG HTML Templates Without Coding.

Use templates with OGraf-compatible players

Choose Export OGraf when the target player supports the open standard. The package includes its manifest, Web Component runtime, assets, action definitions and GDD JSON Schema.

If the format is new to you, read What Is OGraf? for a clear explanation of what separates an OGraf graphic from an ordinary web page.

Turn a visual template into an operator template

A good on-air template controls what the operator can change. Add fields for the approved editorial values and keep design-only decisions inside the graphic.

A sports score bug might expose home team, away team, scores, clock and period. A weather card might expose location, temperature, condition and wind. A lower third might expose name, title, portrait and accent color.

Falcon Graphics can bind those values to the whole visual system. See OGraf Data Binding: Connect JSON to Broadcast Graphics.

A safe template-customization checklist

  1. Duplicate the starting project before major changes.
  2. Set the correct resolution and frame rate for the target output.
  3. Replace example branding, images and fonts.
  4. Test short, long and empty editorial values.
  5. Check title-safe placement and transparent areas.
  6. Preview every step and the update data-swap marker.
  7. Embed required fonts and assets before export.
  8. Test the exported file in the target renderer and controller.

From template to reusable graphics package

The value of a template is not only speed. A well-designed project becomes a repeatable production asset: the operator changes data, while the established layout, animation and brand rules remain consistent.

Save the editable .fgproject file locally, keep a versioned master for the production and distribute the exported HTML or OGraf package to the playout environment.

Frequently asked questions

Are the Falcon Graphics templates free?

Yes. The templates are included in Falcon Graphics and can be opened, edited and exported from the free browser editor.

Can I change every part of a template?

Yes. Layers, colors, fonts, content, data fields, timing and animation remain editable. A template is a starting project, not a flattened video.

Can the templates be used in CasparCG?

Yes. Export a self-contained HTML file with the callbacks needed for direct CasparCG control.

Can the same templates be exported as OGraf?

Yes. Export an OGraf package containing the manifest, runtime, actions, assets and GDD JSON for compatible players.
